About the Yoruba People

The Yoruba people constitute approximately 44 million individuals worldwide. Predominantly residing in Nigeria, they represent 21% of the country’s population, making them one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa, according to the CIA World Factbook. While most Yoruba people are concentrated in southwestern Nigeria, smaller, scattered communities also exist in Benin and northern Togo. Despite the diversity in their social and political structures, the Yoruba people share a rich cultural heritage and many common traditions.
