“Egbe Omo Yoruba, North America” – EOYNA is the National Association of Yoruba Descendants in North America. The organization has grown to become the major institution organizing people of Yoruba origin and affiliation in the Diaspora particular the U.SA and Canada since 1994. Our mission is to promote the unity, progress, and empowerment of The Yoruba people peaceful co-existence based on justice for all.
The Yoruba constitute about 44 million people in total. The majority of this population is from Nigeria, where the Yorùbá make up 21% of the country’s population, according to the CIA World Factbook, making them one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa. They are mostly concentrated in the southwestern part of Nigeria; much smaller, scattered groups live in Benin and northern Togo. There is much diversity in social and political organization among the Yoruba, but they share many basic features.
